A Training on Children and Youth Development for School Teachers
from Bangladesh, Cambodia, the Philippines and Vietnam
under the Patronage of
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn

Introduction

For more than 40 years, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn has been working to improve the quality of life of children and youth in the Kingdom of Thailand. Her Royal Highness’s work is now seen as a holistic and sustainable development model covering various aspects of development such as agriculture, nutrition, health, hygiene, vocational training, environmental conservation and cultural preservation. This model has been implemented in other countries through the Collaborative Project on Children and Youth Development under the Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. At present, there are 107 schools in 10 countries participated in the collaborative project. With the funding and technical support of Her Royal Highness, these schools have been applying Her Royal Highness’s model in their contexts and have made progress in their schools. Many students now understand the value of safe food production, good nutrition, and health, they have improved their nutritional and health status. They also acquire knowledge of agriculture and environmental conservation.

Recently, this collaboration has been expanded the benefits to other schools in at least four countries, namely Bangladesh, Cambodia, the Philippines and Vietnam. Therefore, the Office of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Projects and Thailand International Cooperation Agency organize this training to enable all schools to move forward more effectively.

The specific objectives of this training are:
1. To review a holistic and sustainable development model of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
2. To provide the platform for sharing experiences among countries.
3. To strengthen capacities of school teachers in implementing children and youth development activities.
4. To develop a school plan.
5. To strengthen the relations and cooperation among countries.

Participants
A total of 54 participants from four countries, including
– 12 participants from Bangladesh
– 14 participants from Cambodia
– 14 participants from the Philippines
– 14 participants from Vietnam

Bangkok, Sakaeo, Chachoengsao and Ratchaburi provinces
