Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn visited Sangwanwit 8 Border Patrol Police School, Mae Fah Luang District, Chiang Rai Province.

On 17 June 2025 at 2:00 PM, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn proceeded to Sangwanwit 8 Border Patrol Police School, Mae Fah Luang District, Chiang Rai Province, to follow up on the progress of the Royal Initiative Project. This marked her seventh visit to the school, and the 1,128th visit to a Border Patrol Police School. The school offers education from kindergarten to Grade 6, with 105 students currently enrolled.

On this occasion, Her Royal Highness presented First-Class Honorary Pins to two officers in recognition of their support for the Royal Initiative Project. She also granted an audience to six students under her royal patronage, who are currently pursuing secondary and higher education, to report their academic progress. Her Royal Highness then viewed a cultural performance by the Akha ethnic group titled “Striking Bamboo Tubes and Water Gourd Canisters.”

Her Royal Highness observed several activities under the Royal Initiative Project, including the student cooperative program, which featured a student-run store and savings group. Students were also trained to keep financial records and write meeting reports. In the library activities, programs such as reading diaries and storytelling through the school’s public address system were held to cultivate reading habits and encourage more frequent use of the library. Vocational training included broom-making from grass flowers.

Her Royal Highness also viewed the life skills development activities for kindergarten students and visited the Akha Tribal Cultural Center, where local experts shared knowledge on traditional customs and culture. Activities included Akha embroidery, playing traditional musical instruments, swing riding, pounding steamed black glutinous rice, and wearing traditional tribal attire.

As part of the School Lunch Agriculture Project, students engaged in hands-on learning by growing vegetables, peanuts, and fruit trees, as well as raising egg-laying hens, native chickens, pigs, and catfish. The produce is sufficient to be used as ingredients in the school’s lunch program. Furthermore, propagation techniques such as cutting and food preservation by pickling local “pickled mountain leek” roots were taught and shared with the community. Knowledge-sharing sessions were also held for parents and villagers on agriculture, hygiene, environmental sanitation, and household financial management.

Her Royal Highness also visited with the villagers who had gathered to welcome her, and toured the Royal Medical Unit from Mae Fah Luang Hospital, which provided medical checkups and treatment for students and local residents.
