On 18 November 2025 at 10:00 a.m., Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously visited to school of the “With Love and Care” Project under royal patronage at Ban Kho Don Khaen School, Ku Kaeo District, Udon Thani Province.
The school, established in 1937, provides education from kindergarten through Grade 9, with a total of 270 students and 15 teachers. It is under the Udon Thani Primary Educational Service Area Office 3. In 1991, Her Royal Highness graciously accepted the school into the “With Love and Care” Project under her royal patronage.
On this occasion, Her Royal Highness observed various educational activities, including the “Little Scientists House” activities for kindergarten students, the school infirmary, and the student cooperative. At the library, activities such as making small books and puppet storytelling were organized to promote a love of reading.
For vocational training, short-term courses were provided for students from Grade 4 to Grade 9, focusing on skills such as reed mat weaving, mulberry leaf tea production, rice cracker making, and dishwashing liquid production. Students are able to apply this knowledge to generate supplementary income.
Regarding academic achievement, in the 2024 academic year, Grade 6 and Grade 9 students achieved average O-NET scores in all four subject areas – Thai language, science, mathematics, and English – higher than the national average.
Her Royal Highness also followed up on the School Lunch Agriculture Project, which encourages students to engage in hands-on learning through vegetable and fruit cultivation, demonstration rice farming, herbal gardens, and animal husbandry, including chickens, pigs, ducks, fish, and frogs. The produce is used for school lunches and sold through the school cooperative.
On this occasion, five Sufficiency Economy groups from Udon Thani Province presented reports on their activities. These included Ban Non Sangwan, Ban Thap Kung, Ban Na Di–Sang Bong, Ban Nong Khon Saen, and Ban Non Thong groups. Members engage in crop cultivation, rice farming, livestock raising, agricultural product processing for household consumption and community sales, as well as basketry and handicrafts. These activities generate income, promote self-reliance, and strengthen community resilience. Her Royal Highness graciously bestowed a rice milling machine and financial support to serve as reserve funds and revolving capital for the groups’ operations.
Afterwards, Her Royal Highness graciously met with local residents and visited the Royal Medical Unit from Ku Kaeo Hospital and Chaiyawan Hospital, which provided medical services to students and members of the public.
