Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously granted an audience to participants of the Medical and Public Health Technology Training Program for medical and public health personnel from the Lao People’s Democratic Republic under the Royal Initiative, Batch 28 (2026).
On 6 March 2026 at 9:30 a.m., Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn arrived at the Chaipattana Building, Chitralada Villa, Dusit Palace, and graciously granted an audience to Professor Emeritus Dr. Kraisid Tontisirin, advisor to the Royal Initiative Projects of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. He led a delegation of medical personnel from the Lao People’s Democratic Republic who were participating in the Medical and Public Health Technology Training Program for medical and public health personnel from the Lao PDR under the Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Batch 28 (2026), together with the program’s organizing committee, to pay their respects.
On this occasion, Her Royal Highness graciously presented certificates to 60 medical personnel who had completed the training and observed academic presentations by representatives from 11 training programs. These included Family Medicine, Tropical Medicine, Geriatric Nursing, Community Dentistry, Pharmacy, Medical Technology, Physical Therapy, Anatomical Pathology, Public Health Administration, Nursing Administration, and Medical and Public Health Education Administration.
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously initiated this training program in 2000 (B.E. 2543), and it has continued for more than 26 years. To date, a total of 1,171 medical and public health personnel from 27 batches have completed the training. The program reflects Her Royal Highness’s enduring commitment and dedication to the development of medicine and public health, fostering strong and sustainable cooperation that benefits the people of both countries.
The 28th batch of the program was conducted from 31 January to 12 March 2026, with 60 participants from 12 provinces and Vientiane Capital of the Lao PDR. The training included 11 specialized courses covering both academic and administrative fields, the preparation of academic projects, and study visits to health service systems at Khon Kaen Hospital, Nam Phong Hospital in Khon Kaen Province, and Prachaksilpakom Military Hospital in Udon Thani Province.
The program aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of Lao medical and public health personnel in health promotion, disease prevention, medical treatment, and administration. It also provides opportunities for personnel from both countries to exchange experiences and further develop medical and public health services to improve the quality of life of their people. The program has been implemented with cooperation from the Embassy of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in Thailand, the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane, the Thailand International Cooperation Agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mahidol University, the Praboromarajchanok Institute, the Ministry of Public Health, and the Ministry of Defence.
